Chapter 4 (Conclusion to Part 1)A Chapter by CreepingDeathChapter 4 Draven and Polaris had returned to Neach to receive their payment. “Oi, who’s the new dog on the block?” he asked. “A helper of mine.” Draven replied. Polaris scoffed at the comment he made. “I’d say savior.” he remarked. Draven gave him a smirk. “Well whatever yer are to each other, here’s yer pay.” Neach said, trying to break up the argument. He handed Draven two bags of loosels. ‘How much loot is in them?” Draven questioned. “40 thousand, each.” Neach replied. Draven tucked them away in his back pocket. “Nice.” he said. “Well, we’ll be off. Catch you around Torry”. And with that, they both went to go back to Kravero. About three quarters the way there, Draven suddenly stopped walking. Polaris looked back worriedly. “Are you alright?” Draven’s bandages were starting to stain with blood. “Damn, looks like the ointment wore off before you could fully heal. I’ll help you back. There should be more healing ointment there, right?” Polaris started to help Draven back onto his feet. “Yeah, there’s plenty, but I’m not too sure we’ll be able to just walk in and use some”. “What do you mean by that?” Polaris asked. “You’ll see.” Draven snarkily answered. Once they arrived home, Polaris asked “This is the place right?” as he opened the door. “Drae-Drae, is that you?” someone asked from the stairs. Polaris continued through the door with Draven swung around his shoulder. “Prepare yourself.” Draven warned. “My god, I was worried sick all da-” she stopped her sentence once she reached the bottom of the stairs and saw the condition he was in. She gasped. “Oh my god! Drae-Drae, are you alright? What did I say about getting hurt?” She ran to Draven’s side, completely ghosting past Polaris. His nose had picked up a particularly pleasant smell arising from the kitchen. He sneaked his way in, and was met with a giant feast. My my. he gawked at the supper. This is what she prepared for him? Isn’t he only one person? Did she expect someone else to come? Polaris only cared about the stunning meal in front of him. The fool and that other pepreka could argue in the other room, he was going to stare at the food, hoping soon enough that he could get a portion for him. “What were you thinking not bringing any ointments with you!?” Aza shouted. “Aza, they aren’t serious injuries, just some minor scratch-” “You call those minor? Draven Alexander Oflugur, what is the matter with you!” Aza croaked. Tears started running from her glossy eyes. “Aza don’t cry, I’ll be alright. If anything, you should be thanking-” Draven paused. He looked around. Where’d he go? He thought to himself. “Hey, Polaris. Where are you?” he shouted out for him. Polaris’ ear twitched. What does he want now? he asked himself. He walked back to where Draven was. “Ah, there he is. As I was saying, you should be thanking him.” Draven told Aza. She looked back, wiping the tears from her face with her sleeve. “And who are you, huh?” She remarked snarkily. She gave him a good hard stare. “The name is Polaris, I helped Draven with his injuries.” he answered. Aza kept staring at him, her eyes burning a hole in the back of his head. He returned the stare, gazing into her eyes. She smiled. “Well, it's a pleasure to meet you Polaris. If you’re his new quest buddy, make sure he doesn’t kill himself out there, alright?” Wait-what? Her emotions just completely flipped? Polaris was confused. He returned the grin. “Will do, ma'am.” he said. He’s never used the term ma’am when referring to a woman before. He was nervous. He didn’t know what to think of her. She skipped away back into the kitchen. “Hey hot head, what’s with her?” Polaris asked Draven. “She’s my pepreka. She’s always lively, and she also worries to much about me. Also,” Draven said “Never call me that again”. “Will do Scrambler.” Polaris replied. Draven scoffed. Aza returned to the room with a bag of more ointment, bandages, and medicine. “Here, use this to heal up, then get your butt in the kitchen, I made you a big dinner.” Aza said. “And you, Polaris was your name right? You can start without him if you want.” Aza grinned towards Polaris. He smiled back at her. He whispered to Draven “She is very nice indeed. She is also quite pretty.” he remarked. As he walked away, he gave Draven a wink and entered the kitchen. Draven frowned at the remark, and the wink just made it worse. Since he did not know Polaris well, he couldn’t tell if it was a joke, or him actually trying to hook up with her. Whatever it was, Draven didn’t care much. He swapped the bandages, applied more ointment, and drank the medicine given to him. Soon after, he joined them in feasting. “Oh, Polaris, you’ll need somewhere to sleep. I mean, you are staying with us, right?” Aza asked. “Oh don’t worry yourself, I’m fine sleeping down here on the couch.” Polaris responded. “Oh wonderful, I was going to share my bed with you, but it seems that won’t be necessary now will it?” Aza smirked. Draven had nearly spat his drink out. He snickered to himself. Polaris was surprised at her remark. After they had finished eating, Draven went to his room to rest, and Polaris helped Aza with cleaning. A lot had happened that day, with a lot more to come in the near future. For now, everyone had best gotten their rest. Tomorrow lies a new day, with new mysteries to behold. Conclusion to part 1 © 2019 CreepingDeathAuthor's Note
