Chapter 3A Chapter by CreepingDeathChapter 3 Draven was soon to realise this was not going to be an easy battle won. “So, you think its ok to just use a friend of mine against me, huh!?” he shouted. Draven took a different approach to the fight. He summoned a bow for him to use. Draven had a great shot when it came to archery. He shot Lucretia in the arm. She recoiled in pain, but instead of backing away she ran towards him. “If you think using a bow is going to make this fight any easier, you’re as dense as a box of rocks!” she screamed as she lunged towards him. In the time it took for her to get to him, he was able to shoot 3 more arrows, 2 of which hit her. One in the appendix, and the other in her eye. She pounced on him and started to slash at his chest. Draven quickly threw the bow away, and summoned a greatsword. He used it as a shield to block her attacks. He had an opening against her now. Without hesitation he summoned a broadsword and stabbed her through her abdomen. She screamed in agony. “You will pay for that!” she shouted. Draven smirked. “It seems I’m not the only one with tabs due.” He remarked. He pushed her away once she was weakened. She lay on the ground, a sword still stuck through her chest, and two arrows still stuck in her appendix and eye. She looked over at Draven. “I didn’t want to hurt you Drave”. Draven stopped dead in his tracks. “What did you just say?” he demanded an answer. “It really is me, Lucy. End it now, before this thing gains control again.” she cried out. Draven, without hesitation, ran to her ready to kill Lucretia and to free Lucy. Though this is not how it would end. Right before Draven took the beast’s head off, she grabbed at Draven’s head, slamming him into the ground. Lucretia pushed her claws through his chest, ripping and tearing it apart. Draven had let his emotions get the best of him. This was the first this has ever happened, and he would pay the ultimate price for being so ignorant. So careless. He would leave Aza to be all alone. Aza would never see him again. Aza… Aza… Draven’s pain had gone away, and the pressure on his chest disappeared as well. He lifted his head up to see another person fighting Lucretia. No, not a person. It was another pepreka. Lucretia was different though. She was injured. She was, missing an arm. “How DARE you hurt me!” she screeched out. The pepreka was growing irritated. “Shut up before I rip your disgusting head off.” They replied. Lucretia dashed towards him, but they didn’t budge. Lucretia went to slash them, but they simply dodged it. Lucretia was getting more and more frustrated with each slash dodged. She went for one more slash towards him, and it was the last she ever did. The pepreka grabbed her by the throat, and thrust a dagger through her head. They let go of her throat and she fell to the floor, completely limp. “Hey you, you alright?” They asked. Draven could barely move his neck. “I - Should be fine.” Draven responded. He started to get up. “No, you aren’t. Here, take this.” The Pepreka handed him a bag full of bandages and healing ointments. “Thank you.” Draven showed his gratitude. “What is your name, if I may ask?” Draven questioned. “My name…” They paused. “My name is Polaris.” “Well, nice to meet you Polaris. Why did you help me?” Draven asked. “I was the Harvester’s guardian. He was beginning to gain an illness that was slowly killing him. I went out to get medicine for him. When I returned, I saw you and that thing over there fighting, so I decided to help the person who didn’t look like a monster. Where is the Harvester anyway?” Polaris asked. Draven started thinking before remembering what happened to him. “Oh, umm, about that.” He stammered “The Harvester was killed by her.” Draven finally answered. Polaris didn’t budge. “Oh. That’s a shame.” Polaris responded. He sat down, hanging his head down to the ground. Draven bandaged his scratches and the large slash in his chest, applying the ointment as well. He walked over to Polaris and sat down with him. “Hey, you ok?” Draven asked. “Yeah, it's just that… ” Polaris sighed. “It’s just that I have nowhere to go now. The Harvester always had something for me to do. Now I have no one.” Polaris said, growing more and more depressed. Draven had taken a look at Polaris. It was clear to him he was a male pepreka from the second he saw him. Male pepreka carry more dog traits over than female pepreka. Male Pepreka are almost just dogs standing on two legs, while Female peprekas carried more human traits, as they had a human like head of hair, no snouts, and human like teeth. Male peprekas only have human hands and legs. “Well, I could always use a quest companion.” Draven replied. Polaris looked up at him excitedly “Really? You’d really take me with you?” Polaris exclaimed. “Yeah, besides, it gets boring with only two people around.” Draven said jokingly. Polaris stood up. “Alright then, let’s get a move on.” Draven said as he was getting up. “I told someone at home I’d return in time for dinner, so we better get there in four hours tops.” © 2019 CreepingDeathAuthor's Note
