A Battle

As I meander through the darkness, I shiver.

This blanket that I cannot see envelopes me so that I cannot breathe.

I trudge on and on without knowing where I'll end up.

But I don't care.

I don't care that I might die tomorrow.

I don't care that the people I care for die before me as I watch.

I-don't-care.

Finally, I see the light.

I see the light that will take me out of this misery.

I'm running as fast as I possibly can,

and I exit the crushing darkness.

When I jump into the light,

I can't bare to look at what's before me.

The white light that I thought would save me,

was actually a trick of the mind.

I hoped,

but now my hope will be forever lost.

My knees hit the ground first.

Tears flow down my face.

What I thought was the light

was just another part of the darkness.

This never ending darkness inside me,

consumes my entire being.

I am forever lost,

in my internal battle with the darkness.

This is spectacularly amazing! The pieces fit in together better then a puzzle and created this masterpiece! Hands down, this is the best poem I have read ever!
