Silenced

Silenced

A Poem by Lightfalls
"

Divorce from Life

"

I've watched an old house burning
Flames and smoke above the earth
Singed and broken beams are left
As ash goes back to dirt

I've seen no city tumble
It's happened though I'm sure
They all saw the end coming
The signs were there before

I watch true love and romance
Crumble suddenly to the floor
What was once blissful union
Split through the darkened core

There's something worse then dying;
That silence that it brings.

And the lives that linger helplessly
Watching, just a-watching

"There's something worse then dying;

Watching, just a-watching"

....a very self aware and observational poem...

"Watching, just a-watching"
...this line says so many things--our lethargy of living...

..love it...

I know the sentiment...not being able to do anything but watch when the world is falling apart.

Though I wonder if it is ever truly possible to divorce life, as you put it. Wouldn't life or its semblance always follow us around? I mean, we've never been dead before, so it's just fruit for thought.

The formatting in this poem fits so well, as it is fraught with silence or static.

Very beautiful write indeed. 100/100
