Sand Timer

Sand Timer

A Poem by Lightfalls
"

Why does time have to leave?

"

“Be on the shore with me today
In far off distant land
We’ll catch the sunlight;
drift away”

You gently grasp my hand

We found the coves
And jewel crest sea
We touched the waves at last

Sea sand running through my hands
Like minutes
sifting
past

Days of sunshine, fire heat
Till midnight storms arise

I hold you close
You pull me near
Our breathing syncs in time

In your arms, I feel your warmth
As cold winds howl outside
Palm tree swaying, raindrops pelt
And echo in the night

Daylight dancing
through the streams
As on our bikes we spin
silver gleams
Rain
coming
down

Time’s catching up again

Greedy minutes,
Skip on past
And through the days we find
They’re fast and running like the wind
as we
run
out
of
time

Midnight hours
silver days
weaving in and out
a haze

Days and sleep
planets align
a living dream

I need more time

Memories fade
And I don't care
For they aren't real
If we're not there

I long to be if just once more
in love along that distant shore

Lost with you
As you had me

Drifting in sunlight
running free

Author's Note

Lightfalls
It was pure innocent love. Just us laughing, playing. At night lying there listening to the storm. No pretense, no lust, no guilt. Just love. I miss it.

And now I truly have tears running down my face. You painted a beautiful picture... and the way it was written, was perfect. This is outstanding.
