The prologue to the Magic Tournament.

Mark 6

    It was midnight and I was rudely awoken. The room got cold and the ground was frozen. Ice spears suddenly shot from various directions.
    "That's quite rude! Hold on..."
    Now the room got hotter at the same time it was still cold. I got surrounded by fire.
    "Oi oi. I only know one person this good at dual casting."
    If I remember correctly that person will always be hidden so close no one would expect it. I quickly checked under my bed.
    "Ah. I'm found out."
    "What were you even doing?"
    "I wanted to show you more, but you found me out too quickly."

    "And so, this is our new teammate, Krona."
    "You brought this thing back?"
    "Hey, it's rude to call me "this thing"!"
    "Do you three have some history?"
    "I guess you could say that."
    "You guess? We went to the same academy together!"
    "Arcadia, sir?"
    "Yep. Did they not tell you about the number one student?"
    "Is this guy always cocky?"
    "No, Krona can back it up."
    Back Arcadia we were all part of the top 10 students of the whole academy. I was 2nd, Vlay 4th, and Krona was 1st. Being the only Mage Class to dual cast, everyone knew this prodigy.
    "Just so you know, I'm here to repay my debt."
    "Debt?"
    "That's a story for later. Right now we need to head to the arena."
    "It's already that time?"
    "I did my research before coming. Scavenger Thief right?"
    We headed to the arena. I went on my own to get a snack at the vending machine.
    "A block and B block will play first, eh?"
    "That's right."
    "Whoa! Kaen! Don't sneak up on me like that."
    "I look forward to your plays. I'd say "good luck", but you don't need it."
    She seriously overestimates me. Or is it belief?
    "Be sure you prepare yourself for when we face off."
    I met up with the others.
    "Welcome everyone to the 16th Magic Tournament! Let's skip the speech and get to introducing the teams!"
    The whole crowd cheered and applauded.
    "Starting from A Block! Teams Absolon, Reapers, Desert Runners, and our reigning champions, Team Kingdom!"
    "Team Kingdom, huh?"
    "Are the champs really good, sir?"
    "Come to think of it. Why did we not check the A Block to see the competition?"
    "It doesn't matter."
    "Eh?"
    "Team Kingdom will win 100%."
    Our serious expressions must have scared our two teammates. I smiled again to try and calm them.
    "We don't have to worry about them for now. Let's just concentrate on our current situation."
    "Let's move on to the B Block! Teams, Raid, Cross Advent, Beast Force, and our new super rookies who aced the preliminaries, Team Blank!"
    "Beast Force..."
    "Something wrong?"
    "Nothing. It's just that they have some rude people I'm acquainted with."
    Those two twin beastkins. They acted arrogant, but I'm sure they're our biggest opponents in the block.
    "Those people glaring at us are those rude people, huh? Little b******s trying to pick a fight..."
    "Vlay, we can see your burning pressure."
    "It's too hot!"
    "Moving on it's the C Block!"
    "That announcer sure loves his job."
    "Teams Gala, Firecracker, Ciphers, and Dead Run!"
    "Gala... How will you fair Firecracker?"
    Aster noticed us and threw a peace sign with a smile. Ryuga seemed relax. Kaen was concentrating hard. They also had a new member we didn't see before. He seemed like he was dozing off.
    "Well they look like they'll be fine."
    "How so?"
    "And last but not least, it's the D Block! Teams, Crusher, Cerberus, Outway, and Drifters!"
    "Cerberus..."
    I patted Vlay's back"
    "We'll be fine. Why so scared?"
    "I'm not scared, dumbass!"
    "If everyone from Blocks A and B would please stand on their respective Magic Circles!"
    We did as told. The Magic Circles we were on would transport us to a place fitting the game.
    "It's finally time."
    "When was the last time we played together?"
    "This isn't a game dumbass."
    "I wonder how strong Krona is."
    "He must be strong if he was number one at their academy!"
    "Oh yeah. I forgot to mention, but. I'm a girl."
    "EHHHHHH!?"
