The first Chapter

Mark 1

    It loomed over us like it was observing. I could only think it had us as a meal in its mind. The gargantuan snake, The King of the Forest, also known as The 6-Eyed Viper. Its head motioned in a sort of pendulum movement, almost hypnotizing. I could feel myself growing more afraid. Yes I was afraid. But there was something else. I felt something from within myself scaring me more than the beast above. It was Excitement.
    "I had come to the forest in order to research Marks. I never thought to encounter One of the 12 great beasts."
    "I respect you for being calm in this situation Cilufer. But could you look less like you're having fun!?"
    "Oh come now Vlay. I am as frightened as you are."
    "You say that, but instead of preparing to run you're bringing out your weapons! Regular weapons aren't gonna work on this monster!"
    "Vlay! That's where you're wrong!
    "What?"
    "That's not a monster... It's a snake silly."
    "D****t Cilufer!"
    I pulled out my strings and so did my assistant, Vlay with his swords. I don't know why he insisted on coming here as he was well aware what dangers lurk "outside". All throughout the conversation we were having The Viper has been chasing us around the forest.
    "Careful Vlay. That beast there has special powers residing in all his 6 eyes."
    "Wouldn't this information have been useful earlier!? You b*****d... You know if you didn't fool around so much you wouldn't be the lowest ranking Magic Soldier!"
    "I never thought we would be facing one of the 12 great beasts. Silly Vlay expecting so much from me. Well... It's time for counter attack Vlay.
    We both split in different directions. As Vlay brought out his weapons the beast started to chase him. His ability to draw attention is always useful. The beast spit out toxins from its mouth that melted the ground. I took note of the surroundings. I wrapped my strings where I would deem them useful. We have the skills to temporary kill The Viper. I say temporary because the 12 beasts are all capable of reviving themselves a few moments after death. Still, there are many useful materials the come from "killing" them. I signaled Vlay to bring the beast over. Vlay increased his speed and so did The Viper. Each eye of the beast shot out an elemental beam. Once Vlay past my trap I pulled on my strings and activated my magic. The strings cut and restrained The Viper while my magic circles underneath it shot Ice Spears. There were about 10 of them impaled, but it wasn't enough!
    "VLAY!"
    "You don't need to tell me twice!"
    He impaled his sword into the head of the beast.
    "Burn you damn snake! BLITZ BURNER!!"
    With that skill, its head exploded. Vlay's prowess in battle are remarkable as usual. It always leaves me wondering why he would join my party. He said my goals were the same as his, researching Marks, but many others have the same goal. We started to collect the materials The Viper dropped.
    "Cilufer... don't you think we need more members? I mean besides the two of us."
    "I see no reason why we would."
    "I. DO. You're tactics always involve me distracting the enemy while you put your magic circles and strings in place! But you know... that has not always worked! I end up frying my a*s for you most the time!"
    "I see Vlay... But I don't think I would eat your a*s even after it's fried."
    "GRRRRRRRRRR!"
    "Calm down, calm down~ It's a joke!"
    "Yours are never funny. I want new members so that while I distract the enemy and you set up, they can at least damage it while it follows me."
    "You actually have smart ideas every little often."
    "YOU-"
    The ground trembled. I looked up and saw The Viper had revived.
    "Oh look at that. I'd fight it again, but I'm out of mana."
    "THIS IS NO TIME TO BE CALM! I'M OUT OF MANA TOO!"
    "Okay then Vlay. Now we can run."
