Hearts and SpadesA Poem by LightA heavy poem
On the 13th of february,
my cat died. I find that such a wrong way to say it like our bond isn’t being done justice by such a blunt word She was my friend, dare I say the best I had And she was old, and full of trauma and she was heavy with pain But I hope I helped her feel a little lighter I know I did On Valentine’s Day, I went to school in the outfit I had so carefully planned out A red turtleneck, and a white skirt with card’s symbols on it Hearts to match my broken one, spades to match the one that had dug in our backyard the day before. I felt old, and traumatized, And the heaviest with pain And every flower I received I laid down onto her grave
