The Uniqueness you so crave

A unlikely poem by a heartbound person

I don’t understand you, at all,

your apathy towards me a victory small.

The only sign of caring seen on a boat, almost at the horizon, you give a small wave,

which makes the uniqueness you so crave

cease to exist, stop in its tracks

Because you’re only one of many that ignore the cracks,

in our once solid wall 

Not all for one, but one for all.

And the power you have over me, the might,

it means the pounding of my heart, sealing my lungs airtight.

You reign over my mind, have made me your slave

but your indifference makes your uniqueness

less than you crave.
