Empty Canvas

My ode to art, it has saved my life.

I am a canvas

a pristine white piece

for which to throw your pain at

I am a piece of paper

a tenth generation recycle

for which to write your agony

I am spoken prose

a mind full of words

for which to speak your misery

I am the fine line

between life and death

for without me

some would have already gone

I am art

in any form

impassive

brought to life

by your torment

people stare at me on the wall

and contemplate my meaning

maybe it is about the artist's repression

no, it is about my expression

for without it

I would be an empty canvas

Author's Note

Writing is a new medium for me as I stated before. But it gives me the same release my other mediums do.

Thank you, Chris. I wholeheartedly agree with you. People create their own pieces of a sheer joy as well as overwhelming sadness. I thought about this as I wrote it but I could not incorporate the greener side. I, myself, seem to only be inspired by turmoil, which is where the reasoning in this piece stems from.

Good poem. I write rather than drawing because I'd probably stab myself in the eye with the pencil. I like your photo. It's like Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground. One of the greatest bands to have ever existed, besides Joy Division and Iggy and the Stooges of course.

Fun House. One of the greatest Rock and Roll (meaning still married to blues) records ever recorded. Dirt's bass line is incredible. Raw Power drifts from that, owing to Bowie's influence on it. Still, it does have gimme danger and I need somebody on it, and Your pretty face is going to hell of course.

Mmm...I can tell I'm going to enjoy your writing already. You have a strong and unique poetic voice. I like the way that you use careful wording and phrasing and don't "over do things" with your words. You write the way that I often wish that I could write...I tend to be a little "wordy" when I get caught up in my own little written world.
