Play Ball

Play Ball

A Poem by Ligeia

I played ball today
stomped until my feet were sore.
I ache, but tonight I found time to flirt.
Not with boys, no..I know what you're thinking.
Tonight my I found my affection for life.

I learned, as I do every day,
but the pain in my toes rose
until it passed my nose
and now I know:
You gotta play while you can.

You gotta breathe when the night air moves,
moves you, moves with you, around you, in you.

You gotta listen when the krickets first sing their song,
they whisper secrets,
but only if they hear the whispers in the breeze that flows from your lips,
into the night air that moves, moves slowly, moves surely.
Use your voice.

You gotta speak, speak up, never down.
You gotta speak louder, prouder, move the trees.
Show them the strength and the power of the night which lives in you,
moves you.

You gotta feel, feel the pain, be the ache,
let it flow from your feet and back down to the street,
move with the beat, the beating.

You gotta see, see the beauty in the ability to be,
breathe. Listen when the time is right, speak your mind on quiet nights.
You gotta move with life, play ball, and feel the affection that moves us all.

I played ball today.
I learned, as I do every day,
but the pain in my toes rose
until it passed my nose
and now I know:
You gotta play while you can.

Very clever & cute! I loved how you went on and on about the wind and the air. You're right on this one! Inspirational is all I can say at this point. Love it!
