As one door opens another will close,
you'll witness soon the threat I impose.
I'm a spy you cannot sniff out with your nose,
in this fantastic freak-show I'm the fiercest of foes.
You jump through hoops whilst I light them on fire,
and make life impossible by lifting them higher.
Bend over backwards, you're our finest flier,
with an innate ability to awe and inspire.
I'm the lion who growls as you pace through my cage,
my might and my wisdom grow greater with age.
You're the performer and this world is a stage,
but I'm always the ringleader and I'm cutting your wage.
Is it worth all the acting if the pay is so poor?
If it always leaves a desire for more?
When at the end of the day your back is sore,
and this sickening sadness soaks you through to the core.
The greatest actor is the one who knows,
that his words are precious, like a bright red rose.
The grandest lion is the one we admire,
for his goals and his goodness, his strength to aspire.
The perfect performer is the one who'll engage
deeply in friendship, he'll refuse to feel rage.
The youthful you knows that life is not a chore,
and that no one could ever hold closed your door.
