I've got empathy, don't want your sympathy,
my life story, a simple soliloquy.
What makes me tick, what makes me purr,
you'll find buried in dust and myrrh.
Who I am, and who I'll be,
you'll never know, you'll never see.
What is out, and what is in,
completely different like saints and sin.
Dreams deceive and beauty fades,
glory destroyed like green grenades.
I'm holding on while letting go,
fading fast, but treading slow.
The street I'm on, it goes one way,
won't let me talk, won't let me stay.
Stars will shoot, an empire falls,
my head's in the clouds and duty calls.
You call this life? I call this art,
where to end, and where to start.
This all begins with a simple cliche,
once upon a time will start today.
I'll build my path with bricks of gold,
my heart is warm, this world is cold.
Down this road our lives will cross,
under the oak on the sweet, wet moss.
You'll know who I am and where I lay,
somewhere with you between night and day.
You'll love all of me, the out and the in,
for better, for worse, the sweet and the sin.
I'll tell you forever if you want me to lie,
to land in the clouds we'll aim for the sky.
Take my hand and hold it tight,
we'll fish for stars from the moon tonight,
we'll look down on the world as they all go to sleep,
they pray to God their souls he might keep.
Listen well, my soul's not for the taking,
back off boy, my heart isn't for breaking.
I'll let go of you slowly and jump from the moon,
I'll fall through time, morning, night and noon.
As I slip to the Earth, far, far below,
I hope you'll understand, and always know
if you'd open your eyes, you'd see what I hide:
my heart in my chest, demons at my side.
Perfect? Not so much as you think,
I'll be gone in a second, a heartbeat, a blink.
Don't know who I am, don't know who I'll be,
I guess you'll never know, guess you'll never see.
You make me tick, you make me purr,
our future unfolded in runes and myrrh,
a duet we'll sing, my entire life story.
I'm sick and tired of my simple soliloquy.
