Black Woman : I Love You

Black Woman : I Love You

A Poem by Solum Lupus
"

A poem about the struggles, essence and successes of the Black Woman.

"

Black woman, the world knows you can make it own your own

Black woman, you've proved that you can make it all alone

Black woman, I know that growin' up was hard at home

Mama's boyfriend lookin' atchu' funny whenever she's gone

Black woman, I see that you got pregnant by mistake

Black woman, I see it happened at an early age

Black woman, I see the one who loved you left you cryin'

You said the baby was his, he cursed you out, claimed you was lyin'

So, Black woman, I see that you wiped away all your tears

Got a job, enrolled in school, moved out, conquered your fears

Black woman, decided that you refuse to fall

They told you you fell short, but you chose to stand tall

Black woman, I see you finally got that degree

Or that promotion at the gig, you just as fly as can be

Black woman, I see you think that mommy thing is cool

Keep yo' shorty well-dressed, they on honor roll in school

Black woman, I see you did it all by yourself

Your mom was angry, cut you off, so, you ain't have any help

Black woman, you proved even if they chopped you down

You can still get back up, you're an example all around

My Black woman, you gotta learn to smile, don't be so hard

I know life ain't been the easiest, just a little, drop your guard

Black woman, I see you do it every single day

Like it's nothin' and I love you all, I'm very proud to say

Black woman, I don't think you'll ever understand

That your success as a Black woman makes the success of a Black man

I love yall'...
