The sisters story

The sisters story

A Poem by Pebbles

She looks out the window
at the rooftops  and the warehouse
Such an ugly place
With ugly memories

She looks down on her child
Playing with her toys on the rug
She smiles

Taking a keep sake from the drawn
She holds it to her heart

The small bound book
So old now
and worn from her constant touch
So precious

The child cries for comfort now
not the child playing upon the rug
But the child within this womens soul

For a husband
Cut down by fate
He was a cruel man to the outside world
but to her he was a true soulmate
a gentle lover
and a father to be
It was this hole that destroyed him
pondering  for a moment
or was it sad fools such as him that
destroy this place

Turning over the small fragile book
The page falls open

'To my sister with love
From
The one who loves you more than the moon and stars above
Forever in my heart , I promise never to part '

He has been gone so long
She hated
not him
she could never hate him
she hated what he had done

but seeing the boys down the yard
still messing about with that s**t
She knew her husband would of been dead or
one of the walking dead by now for sure

Martha
(My poetess tells me
her name is Martha)

Reads his words of beauty

'Come Emily'
'up on mummy's knee now child'

He is away but still with them
and it helps her see past
all the gloom of the day
and the dirt of this town

'This is one just specially for you'

A million stars may surrender to the night
A million moons burning so bright
The sun will always come to warm your little hands
The sun with shine on your smiling face
One day your mother will paddle in the sea of life
You will be beside her
Her shining light
Dreams and lullabies hold you so tight
And keep you safe till the morning light

Martha
Closes the book
and cradles the sleeping child within her arms

Sweet lord i pray this day
I know i don't very often pray
But lord forgive the
little poet boy
I need him now
He was my joy

Tears fall
For a brother
Lost out in the world somewhere
