![]() Karen KisekiA Chapter by Cassie![]() Serving One: Order Up!![]() "Miyuki, so, now that school's over, what should we do?" , "I have my plans all together, to find the right guy, you know, the usual dream." Laughter continued throughout the conversation, "Miyuki, what do you look for in a guy?"
"Dunno, honestly, I haven't thought about it, I guess someone who can take care of himself, you know, someone who ain't a wuss, but still has some common sense," you replied.
Rei and Kirai looked at each other, "Then I geuss that your secret admirer is out of question, poor Flan, and he really worked hard getting up the courage for admitting that to you," a girl with long, blue hair and pinkish eyes replied, smiling elegantly.
Miyuki nodded slowly, laughing slightly, "I can't help it if he's not my type, if I want a guy, he needs to be a challenge," her friends gave her a skeptical look.
"Oh, dear, me and Kirai have to go, see ya Miyuki!"
Rei and Kirai ran off in a hurry, leaving Miyuki standing near the window, stealing a view of the wide open forest and lake. The sun reflected of the lake's surface as it set, and the breeze cooled the small abode, Miyuki's mind drifted, no longer were there dozens of buildings and tired buisnessman, crusty old broads with nothing to do. Now, it was more subtle, calming, more organic and natural, filled with a clean, pure breeze in the air, and green grass across the plains.
"Miyuki, Miyuki, MIYUKI!! STOP DAYDREAMING AND GET TO WORK!" The girl lost balance, falling over, having the dinner plate drop quickly and causing a clatter, "God, Miyuki-san, what's the matter with you these days? Start waitressing and get some orders in will ya?"
"Er, s-sorry sir! I didn't mean to slack off or anything, last track of time ya know, I'm on it!" Pulling her hair up, Miyuki got to work, "A la mode and some sake, got it!"
"Miss!" "Waitress!" "I'm ready to order now!" "Come here please!" "Yo, over here!" "Hurry up!"
Sundays were always crazy, especially with summer present, Miyuki's job as a waitress at Rakki- Zuhan (Lucky Plate) cafe was stressful, especially there was always that one jerk that can't make up his mind on something to order. She paced herself today, keeping up with orders and table numbers, along with who-ordered-what-how. She could, by now, walk across the cafe in 25 seconds flat, and carry multiple plates in her hands somehow, it was classic Miyuki Fukyuuai today, just classic.
2 HOURS AND THIRTY MINUTES LATER...
"Job well done, Miyuki-san, when you get to work, you get to work!"
"Thanks a lot, but when will you be hiring more waitresses and waiters? I can't handle this much longer," Miyuki scrunched up her brown locks out of her face and eyes, setting down in a wooden chair, her mind drifted into space more and more with each moment. "You can leave, sir, I'll lock up the shop before I leave," The old man left, leaving Miyuki to her mindful thoughts.
It started getting dark, and was nippy outside, Miyuki decided that it was time to leave, grabbing the key, shaped like a panda bear, she locked the shop for the night. That's done now, I should run on home quick, seems it's gonna rain soon. Taking the shortcut, she heard a ruckus near an old alleyway, she checked it out, only to see a simple stray cat, "Silly cat, be quiet or dogs will come after you," Miyuki crouched down to pet the tabby-cat, then jogged off again. The clouds darkened roughly, and she could feel cold drops of rain running down her neck. This rain is so sudden! And cold! Very cold! She was drenched within five minutes, her shoes wet and mushy, her clothes soaked to her skin, hair dripping into her eyesl she was shaking slightly. Only a few more blocks, only a few more! She saw to heads, one blonde, the other bluish, Kirai and Rei.
"What happened to you?!" Rei shreiked, she put her hat on Miyuki, "Why didn't you bring an umbrella?"
"This is sudden rain, there was nothing in the forecast related to it at all, that's why!"
They sighed, running home, "Well, now that we're home, might as well dry your hair,"
THE NEXT DAY...
Alrighty then, it's not raining, and I'm taking the river shortcut right now, nothing can go wrong now! Wrong, absolutely wrong, she felt her foot slip, and she started sliding straight toward the river. © 2009 Cassie |
