There are empty seats in the car of the subway,
More than enough for a small family to sit together
Without bumping into the other passengers.
But the woman walks in and sits between two strangers,
Sandwiched between their two broad bodies
With her tiny structure held snuggly between,
For the comfort and closeness she longs for in life.
Pulling out a magazine to read, she pays no attention
To the stares and the dozens of empty seats surrounding.
