Reality Introduced the Dream

I once thought that dreams were meant to shape reality.

Dreams used to create my reality
A replica of inner fantasies
Desire serving as the foundation
Ideals defining my worlds destiny
To me it seemed dreams were the root of will
And with will, reality came to life
Fantasy revealed the path that is fate
But then the world enlightened how I see

While I choose to chase, I fly past wonders
With disposition rendering me blind
My sights pass by a life that could be mine
So I let go of the world in my head
Desires set aside to follow none
Though my fantasies were not abandoned
They did fade, replaced by what I was shown
When reality introduced the dream
