SavedA Poem by CiaraThis poem is inspired by a story written by my friends Sophie.Saved (inspired by a story written by my friend Sophie) The Germans are hunting us down Picking us off the streets To concentration camps we go But for now WE are safe Or maybe safe is not the word But as the days go on, risk grows We are not in their hands Now its just a matter of time We know we will be found And we were all going to die But they all say I have a chance Blessed as an albino. With eyes bluer than the day sky And hair so very light As a German I will be spared Oh how I yearned to be the same Doomed with the same fate How could I live, knowing the truth They will die together And I will survive as a lie As predicted we all were found And as planed I was saved Story was I was an orphan I was a German babe Saved by a Jewish family They did not question this at all Not even a little But I cried out to my father And they slapped my face "You are German, you don't love them!" A new family took me in A German family I now was a German I have become what I feared most And I still wasn't safe Then a series of explosions Brought my world to an end Fate was not fooled by my disguise The bomb shelter was far And with all will gone, I gave up I took my last breath, all alone My fake family, dead And the lie that I lived ended My real family, dead And alone, everything ended. © 2015 CiaraReviews
