The Hidden YouA Poem by Li
There's a side of you,
It's compassionate It looks to be kind So sensitive, so refined It looks to help, Aware of its surrounding How they are, how they felt It barely shows anymore, But it pops now and then When you can't help it but be yourself When you smile genuinely At the kids holding hands, At the grandpa walking with his wife But you want to act so tough now Convinced yourself it's weak to show that side of you Convinced you are manly if you are cruel Convinced you're lovable if you broke hearts too So what can I do? I long to see that side of you But it's not here anymore so what should I do? You never listened when I told you And now you don't care if you break my heart, Or hers or yours too If you're convinced you want to bury you Then I guess I will too Pretend you never existed, Pretend I don't recognize who you are, Because I don't!! © 2021 Li
