Cliché

Every girl thinks her love is unique when she realizes it never was.

Cliché was what it was.

You approaching me and telling me I was beautiful.

I didn’t think too much of it at first, I guess I was bashful.

But you had my attention, slowly but surely....

 

I fell for you in the way I had never before.

And silly it maybe but it went all the way to my core.

I was just waiting for you to say it.

To tell me you loved me so we can start something so great.

 

But you left me hanging.

You said we were just friends.

How could I have not seen it.

I fell for a cliché.

 

It hurt me more than it should have.

You didn’t love me back.

My ego had been permanently smashed.

Yes, it was all a cliché.

I fell for a cliché.

 

But you were still around.

Saying things you shouldn’t have.

Making me fall for you over and over.

And pathetic I knew it was.

I realize now I was the fool.

Just like every cliché love story.

I was a girl who got fooled.

By a cliché line.

By a cliché guy like you.
