Amanda, My Sweet

Amanda, My Sweet

A Poem by Liderien
"

This was written last year to my daughter, it is very rough and no editing was done.

"

I remember the good times,
that we once had...
but still my life,
is oh...so sad

I try to look forward,
but my mind goes back...
because a piece of the glass,
on our portrait is cracked

I try so hard to protect the glass,
I won't let it shatter...
Because you and your love,
are all that matters

My family is all,
that means anything to me...
still...everything always
gets blamed on me

This happens to Moms,
all over the world...
we're supposed to be perfect,
we learn this as girls

I have never been great
or the "best of Moms"...
And, at times I've failed
by the things I've done wrong

For those things I am sorry,
I don't want you to cry...
but please remember,
my eyes are not dry

I hope you can find,
our love that seems lost...
for the mistakes I have made,
came at a very high cost

A piece of my life,
is missing and gone...
And everything feels,
Oh...so wrong

moms are the only who love without waiting for anything in return. you have here expressed this love in a perfect way drwing the best ever images and selecting the most suitable words that can ever be used covered with a very nice flow what makes it look like a sandwich of chocolate covered with a delicious layer of cream..i love it

oh dear other mother. I stumbled upon this quite by accident, but are there really accidents ever? Thank you for painting a picture taken from the center of my own heart. These are the words we long to say, but cannot - I know. I hold them in myself. Thank you for the validation. We are strong for them - and sometimes it is so painful you feel you just may shatter into thousands of pieces. Yet we cannot can we? I am told it gets easier. I am holding on to that. Thank you!

Every line of your poem squeezes the heart until by the end one can only hope that over time the touch of sadness and self-blame has diminished into the horizon of a happily ever after.

Perfection of truth in love, with all its seeming limitations...

Wonderful...!

As parents we all feel we were never perfect in our choices, our values, our way of doing what we thought was right, but it was the best we could do and that piece of life will never be gone. It will linger in our memories our hearts for all eternity. Thanks for sharing this, from one MO to another MO. :)
