To My Father

To My Father

A Poem by Liderien
"

This is actually a song I wrote, very simple and not very intuitive

"

I Got Over It

(Chorus)
Thank you for the lessons.
I wanted to let you know
That I got over it years ago.

(Bridge)
How could you come back
demanding my affection
when you turned your back
because of your infection

(Verse 1)
I learned to live without
your love and your role
fending for myself
I'm an autodidact soul

(Verse 2)
It was you who taught me well
that life is full of lies
that no one gave a hell
and to sever all the ties

(Verse 3)
Hide your heart, you said
its useless anyway
no tears you need to shed
emotions you should slay

(Verse 4)
That day you said goodbye
I layed my head and died
completely shut inside
its been a long long time.

I don't get the sadness... I get anger. I read the other piece on aunt Kris and I also picked up your friction with your "heartless" dad. Liked the bit about slaying emotions... nice touch. That is so spot on!

A very sad poem. Hard when we learn lessons when we are young. I had a AWOL father. He taught me to be a good father to my children. Thank you for the outstanding poem.

wow- this is very raw. i like the psychoanalytical strands of how the shadow of the absent person falls upon the heart through the mechanisms of internalisation.

I dont really have any music to go with. I have a nephew who has a band and I wanted him to put music to it...but he hasnt so it sits as words only.

true heartbreaker...sung with an acoustical guitar..?

within the hustle and bustle of life..still stings..

well done..
