Indigence

Indigence

A Poem by Liderien

Indigence lies in wait

Like a predator stalking his prey

Parading the perimeters of my sagacity

Stroking its appetite off my fright

Its growl echoes in the long night

Aching to rend my flesh

Careful to wait for the claim

Its patience steady; unmatched

Knowing it can prevail it lingers

Prowling the corners of my rumination

Gradually gaining ground

Checking to see if I discern

The threat on the brink of assault

I love how you use the language. I had to read the poem a few times for the pleasure of the strong statements. The poem begin strong and got stronger. Thank you for the outstanding poem.
