The Veil

The Veil

A Poem by Liderien

The veil of darkness descended

Wisp of clouds at first.

Night would fall

Nightmares turn out.

It couldn’t, it wouldn't.

Final shards of light

The evening sky,

Mantle of mourning

Now it’s covering

Clambering swiftly

The backdrop was set

Darkness to seal the world

Heart abandoned

An empty void; nothing

 How could this be?

Feebleness the weight

Vulnerable, full of shame,

Remorse and lament

Thoughts irresolute

Stabbing of dread and woe

Manner seized

Foreign and cold

Distant from light

Still heart beat

Breathlessly restive

Torment holds firm

Cannot escape,

Cannot get out

Prisoner of the milieu

i appreciate the brevity to stanza and line, as if the brevity itself is but a "veil" to a longer thematic unwinding. thank you for sharing your talent on this site.
