I don't know...

No matter how close,
No matter how far,
When I close my eyes and dream,
There you are.
A distant memory,
When my eyes are open.
A faded testimony,
Of words once spoken.
The faint smell of you still lingers.
In my heart, I still remember.
Your laughter still clings to the walls,
As I walk through each room and down the halls.

But in this dream land,
I can see beyond all reality.
I can touch the untouchable,
I can feel your warm embrace around me.
I can taste your kiss upon my lips.
I can hear your voice, a beat never amiss.
And in this dream land, there you are.
Standing, waiting, but not from a far.
My head swarms, and my heart races,
I open my eyes and it all erases.

Thoughts of us still cloud my mind.
In fantasy lands, I shall dine.
What was once true, is now long gone.
But in my mind those nights still go on.
Call me crazy, call me insane,
But baby, you're what my heart still craves.
The past can't be changed,
The future remains untold.
But in my heart, is a place you still hold.
I try to let go, I fail it seems.
You were ripped from my world,
Into lands unforseen.

And though you're gone, my words unheard.
I still love you, with every breath.
The pain has yet to subdue,
But in the end, I only saw me and you.
You were mine, and I was yours.
Now worlds apart, and so much more.
No matter the distance, no matter the costs,
I'd give all I have for one more night that was lost.
You were my future, my dreams held tight.
All of it was lost in one untold night.
But baby don't worry, I'll keep on smilin',
With thoughts of you to keep me tryin,

Because in this dream land,
I can see beyond all reality.
