Betrayal WithinA Poem by LiciYou say you love him, you say you care.
Yet you run and hide when in despair. You say you trust him, you say you listen. But he knows when you're lying, when your eyes glisten. You say you're fine, everything is ok. But the tone in your voice, gives you away. He can see past the mask you so desperately wear. He wants to help, and yet you return with an empty stare. Trust is not given, it is something earned. And on a moments notice, you can watch it burn. The betrayal has awoken, and it stirs within. You betrayed yourself too, not just him. The trust has been broken, the fire released. You watch it burn, as you sit in unease. Betrayal has cost you more than it was worth. A debt not payable, a debt for the worst. You sit idly by, your heart twisting with pain. What have you done? This is no gain. You turn your cheek, is this your fate? You cast your eyes down, shame covering your face. There is no grief where it's not worthy. Brought unto you by you, is this worry. You betrayed him, not just you. Forgiveness is something he gets to choose.
