Souls

Souls

A Poem by Lici

A distant soul in shattered waste.
As time stands still, it shows disgrace.
But when time is moving, it flaunts deceit.
Masking it's true colors, truly a feat.
Lies, slander, untruths, a tale being told.
As one man stands, alone and cold.
His soul is blackened, his heart turned to stone.
What's on the inside, masked by the unknown.
To faces he is kind, his words sincere.
But the truth behind it, are their worst fears.
Oblivious are they to the true man inside.
For if they found out, he'd have nothing to hide.

A distant soul in shattered waste.
As time stands still, it shows disgrace.
I recognize this soul for what it's worth.
A man crying out for help, his life took a turn for the worst.
And inside this man, his soul unrest.
Is another man wanting the best.
The more I watch him, the more I realize.
In everyone, this soul resides.
Sometimes hidden, sometimes left alone.
And sometimes even, this soul unfolds.
And such is the way of the human kind, as it will always be.
Two souls, good and bad, residing in you and me.....
