If i was a poet

If i was a poet

A Poem by Lehlohonolo Lichaba

If I was a poet I would construct words in such a way that the rhythm of alphabets and letters sing to your heart a song of endless love.

Words that would rip open my chest, spill my heart out into your hand so you know you have my love.

I would swing my pen on the paper and make you fall in love with me,

just like I fell in love with you without any hesitation or doubt.

I would open my mouth and speak dynamites nuclear of words of affection.

set this love on doubts give you surety so you watch me fall for you completely once again like I did everyday since the first time I laid my eyes on you.

I would bind poetry to music so you step in love and dance with emotion to the beat of the words.

I would use synonyms to describe how me and you are connected and the same,

rhymes to describe how me without you doesn't fit and  sound right.

I would paint a picture of heaven using only words as a reminder of your birth place ,my angel.

If I was a poet the pen would be my wand and all you wishes and desires would be one wave away

I would write a sonnet of our story

And describe how this relationship is so friendly , how you are my friend my lover , my partner queen of my castle.

You my sweet heart and I got a sweet tooth mami.

Got that high school typa love for ya lovy,

That pass the note in class typa love for ya darling.

forget the boom box on your window I got that crazy weird twisted typa love for ya sani.
