A young woman

A young woman

A Poem by Kamari's

A young woman is what I am and I am proud of that.

Many women have fought for me to be here today and I hope one day to thank them.

From the women who fought for my right to vote to the women who fought for me to be able to choose who I marry I thank you.

I came from a mother who tried her best to raise me but also left me to walk on my own.

I come from many single mothers who raise their children and have thought me if the same was to come to me and I am happy for that.

I plan to make the women before me proud by stepping on my own and showing that their efforts where not in vain.

I am determined to make people not look at my face and only see a young woman but to see a powerful being standing before them and deserves respect as I make my presence known.

I know I have a long way to go but I am set on making my own path and showing those who fought for my rights to be an independent woman if I wish it that their efforts were not in vain.

I am a young woman and I am proud of that.
