Sniper's Crawl

Sniper's Crawl

A Poem by Liamesq

I breathe and rub my eyes which drip

The sweat congeals; hands start to slip
So I wipe them on my uniform

And I lay in wait from dusk till dawn.

My fingers sting but I keep them steady

For us snipers always must be ready

As we point our rifles at our prey

Early morning to the end of the day.

The darkness falls upon our scopes

As we pick off the enemy, crush their hopes.

We climb and use the moon’s dull light,

They fall as I fire in the never-ending night.

Nice! I like your rhyme scheme a lot, simple, yet effective. It has a rather nice, flowy rhythm throughout. However, I'd recommend adding some imagery, through the use of figurative language. Some metaphors, a dash of similes, it would add greatly to your poem.

Job well done!

This was a beautifully worded poem. You don't often see poems about soldiers, so the originality is great. Nice job! :)
