Drowning In Betrayal

Drowning In Betrayal

A Poem by Liamesq

Breathe in sharply when you think of me
Remember my drowning eyes through the sinking car door
Your useless arms flailing
Trying to save me, sometimes I question whether or not you were trying hard enough
My hands reaching out for nobody to catch
As more water fills this tight box
Acclimatising to the bitter freezing nature of it
As it runs up my neck in front of you
And you can see the iciness of it through my fatigued eyes
The purity of innocence in the mind of a dying young boy
Is exactly what you envisage
Now, daily, but at the time in its original essence
It stains your memory and so it should
You let me die, allowed death to take me
Laughed as I inhaled my last
You gave up, and you know it
Because you feel it every day
You were too scared to help me
So I hope the same thing happens to you
I know it will because that which goes down, comes back up to drag you along with it
Suffer the same as I did
Feel everything go black, throat swell up, water invades you, searching every piece of your body there to fill
Whilst your audience think it all a mere play
Explain to yourself how you now feel
Does 'guilty' pop up ?
Yes I thought so and so you should be
I won't say otherwise
You had the chance, didn't take it
Now you have to live with that for the rest of your life
Because you didn't let me have mine
