Holy Matrimony

Holy Matrimony

A Poem by Liamesq

Has anybody wondered if the devil and god were married
If Jesus was the baby boy one of them had carried ?
And the tensions that arise, merely old and bitter grudges
And our priests are not the messengers, but instead the reckoning judges ?

Would it not make sense that them two were locked in matrimony ?
With one always looking to reach that religious hegemony ?
And the child who would be born would become the final deciding factor
And lead us meagre humans into the blessed marital fracture

So now we have the sides to pick and form our lives around them
With every prayer to one of the couple, every shrine and every hymn
The modern voice of their young man echoes while we all look for fun
'forgive them', he says quite clearly, 'for they know not what they have done'
