Emotional StasisA Poem by Liamesq
It takes a lot to confess a sin.
To admit mistakes made on ice so thin. Accept our errors and repair our morals, And avoid the easy road of lies laid by laurels. But then there are those who do no such thing, And would trade others' lives for gold necklace and ring. Sacrifice souls not theirs to barter, And as they float forth, behind them rich men's laughter. The once-green fields stained by the blood of our youth, Rapports between young and old have never been more aloof. Governments try to suture up the wounds left by days gone by, And only the sane man balls himself up to cry. We disallow the open emotions of our common peers, And have to suspend our truth-bearing tears. For we lead our lives on roads far too long, With guidelines and rules dishonest men see as wrong. But I sit myself in an emotional stasis. Humanity, I know, should be nobody's basis, To lead a normal existence without fear of repression, Which would otherwise lead to naught but depression. © 2012 Liamesq |
