Prompt #1A Story by LiaIt wasn’t supposed to turn out like this. No one was going to die. I’m supposed to be taking a Geometry test right now not hiding from the police with every teen girl’s celebrity crush, Austin Fosters. All it took was a simple dare for my life to be turned upside down. I slouch back into my seat as the memories of the past two days replayed in my head. Austin stirs in his sleep and opens his eyes. He gives me a small smile and stretches his arms. “Morning, Alex!” His English accent chirped in a happy tone. “Morning,” I reply in a monotone voice. “You seem tense, what’s going on?” “Well, maybe it’s the fact that I hate planes or maybe it’s because we just killed someone!” I yell at him. “Shut up!” He commanded through gritted teeth. “We are going to land in London in an hour then we can get you a fake identity and no one will ever find out what we did.” “She was my friend!” I whisper-screamed while a tear escapes my eye. Austin rolls his eyes and walks around the jet. I pull a blanket over my legs and try to fall asleep before he returns. I started to drift off to sleep when Austin came back. He didn’t say anything but I could feel his gaze upon my body. I eventually fell into a deep sleep. ∆ “Alex, wake up,” Austin said while kicking my leg. I groan and hit him in the head softly. “We landed and we need to get off my jet and to my house ASAP.” I got up with a yawn and grabbed my bags. I slipped on a hoodie and some sunglasses so no one would see my face. Austin grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers, running out of the jet and onto a runaway. I look around me in disbelief. I always wanted to go to London but I never thought I’d be here because I just murdered my friend with a famous teen actor. We run towards a black car and pull out of the airport. Austin kept checking his phone with an anxious look on his face. I nudge his legs with my knees and shot him a look. “I thought you were supposed to be a good actor,” I hissed. “Well, I’m good at acting, not lying.” “It’s like improv. I’m trying my hardest, you can at least try to look normal,” I begged nervously. “I can do improv,” He breathed while nodding. “Alex, do you think after we get you all settled at my place and everything calms down that you will ever go back to America?” “Probably not. My parents aren’t dumb enough to take back a sixteen-year-old runaway who killed someone.” Austin let out a small laugh before checking his phone again. I looked out my window and took in what happened the past days. ∆ Two days before∆ “Alex!” Mary yelled as she ran into my bedroom with her phone in one hand. “Guess who is having a low-key meet and greet at that old bookstore that no one goes into, tomorrow at eleven?” “Hmmm,” I hummed. “Is it Misha Collins?” “Think younger.” “Lucky Blue Smith?” I ask as Lucky’s face pops into my brain. Every single detail that makes him so wonderful to look at. His icy white hair or his piercing blue eyes that were like the sky and his smile that shines as bright as the sun. “You are an actual idiot!” Mary laughed. “It’s Austin Foster!” My face quickly turned into a disgusted look as she said his name. I shook my head and opened my book again. “I don’t understand why you like him so much. He is only famous for that one role on ‘Teen Mess’ and now people are treating him like he’s a god. A stupid hot British god.” “You’re going with me. That is final.” “It’s at eleven. My curfew is ten and tomorrow is a Wednesday.” “Sneak out,” She said as she walked out of my room to go back home. I roll my eyes and throw my book down on the floor before getting ready for bed. It’s not that I hated Austin, just he seems like he has a giant ego and doesn’t care for fans that much. I spent the rest of the night looking through Tumblr posts until they bored me to sleep. ∆ I sit on my front porch waiting for Mary and her boyfriend, Todd, to come pick me up in the frigid February weather. Through the darkness, I can see the red minivan pull up closer to my house. I stand up and walk towards the sidewalk. The car stops and the door opens up. I jump inside and rub my arms to get rid of the goosebumps. “How’s ready to hang out with one of the hottest men on earth?” Mary asked in an excited tone as we sped off towards the bookstore. I roll my eyes as Todd looks at her with a fake frown. “I’m on that list, right baby?” “Whatever helps you sleep at night,” She smirked before pecking his lips. I adjusted myself in my seat uncomfortably. I kept quiet until we parked. “Can I just read books?” I ask quietly. “No!” Mary yelled. “Remember at Veronica Murphy’s thirteenth birthday party?” “Yeah, we played truth or dare with her brother’s because we were only there for free cake.” “Well you skipped the dare to kiss Bobby and I did it for you. Now I’m gonna use that free dare.” She exclaims. I look at Todd for help but he just looks away. “I dare you to makeout Austin.” “He’ll think I’m a crazy fan.” I pointed out. “Not if you act like you don’t care for him, which you don’t. That drives men crazy. Plus you look so sexy and alluring tonight. Right Todd?” He didn’t reply and awkwardly got out of the car. “If he doesn’t find me ‘alluring’ enough, can I just read?” Mary nods and she jumped out of the car and ran towards the bookstore. We walk in and it is filled with a couple dozen teen girl but no one that looked over thirty. I slipped away from Mary and found a copy of “To Kill a Mockingbird” and began to read in the corner. I was reading for a good twenty minutes before girls began to scream. I look over my book to see Austin Foster sitting down less than twenty feet away from me. The girls made a big line go and talk to him. Mary was way back in line so we would be the last people to leave. Girls started to run up to him with papers for him to sign and phones to take pictures while crying their eyes. I continued reading until my phone started buzzing. Mary was texting me. From: The not so virgin mary, PULL YOUR SHIRT DOWN IN THE FRONT AND TRY TO FIND A DIFFERENT BOOK CLOSER TO HIM SO HE CAN SEE YOU!!!!! I HAD MY FIRST KISS WITH BOBBY F*****G MURPHY FOR THIS. I let out a small chuckle and put my copy of the book back on the shelf. I walk towards Mary to get to the other side. I (not so gracefully) tripped over a bag on the ground and hit my head on the floor. I tried to get up quickly and when I looked up everyone was staring at me in disbelief. A slow clap came from the front of the room and the whole room burst out in laughter. A blush rose to my cheek as I ran back to the corner. I tried to get what happened out of my head but the blood dripping from my forehead was a constant reminder. After another two hours or so, only five girls were left in line. I watched the last few girls give him hugs over the table and say their goodbyes. Finally, Todd and Mary we standing in front of him. Mary handed him her giant handwritten note about how much she loved him and started crying all over his shirt as they hugged. Todd just gave him a fist bump and walked back to his car. Mary walked out of the store after talking to him for another few minutes. She gave me a quick wink before disappearing into the harsh winter night. I hear the car door slam and the minivan sped out of the parking lot into the darkness. I get up slowly and walk towards the door, trying not to be noticed by Austin who was talking to security. I was about to open the door when an English accent from behind yelled to me, “Hey!” I stood there stiff and still not wanting to turn around. A hand was placed softly on my shoulder. I turn around to see Austin standing in front of me. His eyes look to the cut on my forehead then looked me up and down with a smile pulled across his lips. “Hi,” I said meekly. “Why'd you come here tonight, because it wasn't for me?” He asked. “I honestly don't know who you are,” I lied. “My friend dragged me here.” “The one that just sped out of here?” “That'd be the one!” I said in a sarcastic way. He let out a laugh and gave me a look that made my insides feel like screaming (in a good way??). “So do you need a ride home?” “I could always just go home with you,” I winked, attempting to be sexy. His eyebrow jerked up as he bit his lip. He leaned in closer to me to where his mouth was by my ear, “How about we just go someplace else?” I blushed as he pushed open the door, letting me out first. I got into a fancy black car and he drove down the street. I sent Mary my location every few minutes as Austin drove towards the docks. He parked at a hotel and opened my door for me. I smiled as he took my hand and we walked into the lobby. Austin went up to the front desk and ordered a room. I bit down on my lip lightly and texted Mary where I was and what room number. I nervously followed him towards the elevator. “So, this is a bit awkward.” He said while rocking on his heels. “What’s your name?” “Alex,” I stared down at my shoes. “I guess you are the ‘famous’ Austin Foster.” “Yeah, I am.” The elevator let out a ding and we walked into the hall of the somewhat fancy hotel. We silently walked towards the room and went in. He opened the doors to the balcony as he quickly attached our lips together. I pushed back with a soft force and the kiss quickly deepened. After a few seconds, things got a bit heated and Austin broke the kiss. We sat down on the bed. He took my face in his hands and looked at me embarrassed. “Can I be honest?” He asked staring into my eyes. I nodded and he went on. “I don’t want you to feel pressured into anything you aren’t ready for, just tell me if you feel uncomfortable.” “Thanks,” I said with a sigh of relief. He gave me a small smile before leaning towards me. He quickly pressed his lips into my mine and kissed them passionately. He was gentle yet rough. His hands held my face as the pace quickened. Somehow I lost my shirt and was just in my bra while Austin was completely topless. I straddled his lap and he broke the kiss to breathe for a second. I heard the door click open, but I couldn’t look behind me cause Austin slammed his tongue into my mouth. I quickly pull out of it as I hear the sound of a camera. I turn around to see Mary with her phone pointed at us. I quickly get off of Austin’s lap while putting my shirt back on. “What the hell are you doing here?” I yelled at her. “This picture will be wanted for so much money by the press after a witness saw a celebrity go into a hotel with an underage chick.” She explained. “Delete the picture and I’ll double everything they offered you,” Austin said calmly. “No! I’m getting my fame and you can’t do anything about it!” She yelled as she walked towards the open balcony. “Nice view.” “Did you only dare me to do this so you could get a f*****g photo?” I screamed. Infuriated, I walked up behind her with Austin following me. I tried to grab the phone from her but she wouldn’t let go. She pulled my hair and Austin started to ply her off of me. He pushed hard as I let go of the phone and she fell backward. She fell off of the balcony, three floors down and landed onto the concrete of the parking lot. I scream in shock and Austin and I run down the stairs to get to her body before anyone noticed. I run towards her limp body and start to cry as I see her laying there lifeless. I fall to my knees as Austin comes to comfort me. “What are we gonna do?” I sob into his shoulder, drenching his shirt. “We have to get rid of her and get out of here with her phone.” I look at him in disbelief, “Why can’t we just call the police and say it was suicide?” “Baby, the police will not believe that. It will ruin my career and your future.” I cried harder as I looked back at Mary. I stood up and grabbed the phone laying next to her corpse. “How are we gonna get rid of the body?” “Now that’s the question we need to figure out.” ∆ We drive deeper into the woods, an hour away from where we killed Mary, with her body in the trunk. We park and Austin throws her body over his shoulder as I grab the shovels and flashlights. We walk for twenty minutes before Austin stopped. “Move the leaves from that area and dig. We can put her there and cover it back with leaves.” I nodded and did as he said. The ground was frozen and hard to dig into, but with his help, we were able to dig a deep enough hole. He placed her body, which was wrapped in one of the extra blankets that were in the closet at the hotel, into her grave. I cried as I said my final goodbye and buried her. We covered the area back over with leaves and I looked as if nothing ever happened. Austin held my hand the way back to the car and we sat in silence until he pulled up to my house. “What do I grab?” I ask, trying to figure out what to bring before we fly out of the country. “Anything that can be good enough until we get to the shops in London.” I nodded and run out of the car and climb up to my window. I open it and softly land in my room. I grab some bags and stuff my favorite clothes and my makeup. Austin’s words from before kept reminding me to keep on track, Get in, grab your stuff, no notes, no goodbyes. I finished packing and jumped out my window and ran towards the car. I threw my bags in the backseat and we drove to the airport without a single word.© 2016 Lia |
