The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid

A Poem by ♡Moon Child♡
"

This is my own version of the famous fairytale.

"

Swirling thriugh the clear blue water

Swimming and swimming, faster and faster

Free as a bird, swimming like a fish

To forever be here, a wonderful wish

A flick of my tail

Bubbles leaving a trail

Leaping playfully above the waves

Heading towards the cool sea caves

Where hides precious stones and treasures

Here with my friends, a fleeting pleasure

Soon I'll be gone

singing a song

A ship sails on the calm ocean

Curiousity seizes me, I swim closer in

The sound of a flute, soft and melancholy

My voice joins in, clear and lovely

He searches for me

I'm in the sea

Thunder cracks the silent night

Lightning strikes, the ship is alight

It goes down, sinking quickly

I search for him, heart thudding

I find him

He cannot swim

I take him quickly to the shore

He is freezing, breathing is poor

I lean down, pres my head to his chest

Voices coming from the West

I must depart

Leaving my heart

I watch him as the days drift by

I wish that I'd grow wings and could fly

I'd go and tell him what I feel

That with one look he did steal

My fragile heart

Don't break it apart

The sea witch comes, her smile knowing

She takes me to her cave, cauldron glowing

She makes me a deal, I give her my voice

Legs will be mine, I've made my choice

Now on land

Toes in the sand

He is there, walking towards me

He offers a hand, smiling sweetly

His touch is warm, his grip strong

I want so badly to sing him a song

I open my mouth

No sound comes out

Three days I have to capture his love

To wear a lovely dress, white as a dove

We spend two days together, happy and sweet

I dance for once, now that I have feet

One more day

Or my life I will pay

Third morning I awake

Hoping he loves me, for my sake

I rush downstairs, crash into him

He catches me, pulling me in

Our lips touch

I love him so much

My heart swells, warming me

My voice returns from the sea

We wed the next day

I wish and I pray

To love him forever

Happily ever after

You did a good job...there were some differences on the disney movie...but this one was good to...and child friendly unlike the Hans Christian Anderson version...but i like his version to.
Great Job :)
