Flesh and bones

Flesh and bones

A Poem by Lia Columbus
"

To think of a person as just flesh and bones shall be declared criminal now

"
Flesh and bones
My palms hold the light till they shine like a star
My eyes worry, at night they are wide apart
Electricity runs through the length of my body
And sends shivers down my back
Every heartbreak paves way for love
And I love more than before
And I cry more than before
But then I try more than before
My imperfections bulge as I arch my back
They meet at the end of my spine
Shaped like a perfect scar
I lie like a Saint and Spill blood in my mind
I dance on clouds and talk to sun
But the moon pushes me back to the ground
Where I inevitably burn
All my dreams and nightmares are same
I am a whole ocean wrapped in skin
And ah! You thought I was just flesh and bones?

Well, Lia 🤔

Hmmm? I can't speak for anyone else, but to me, after reading this, you are farrr more than mere flesh and bones … you've been blessed with an excellently creative mind and soul that knows how to wield her pen with intelligence, high skill, and grace.
Beautifully rendered, easy to read and follow, in a smooth flow throughout, with spot-on line-breaks, and metaphor that sweeps through one's deeper senses … you're a marvelous poetess to admire and respect.

I've very much enjoyed this first visit to your poetry pages … drop by my place sometime soon. : )
Thank you for the lovely treat, Lia ⁓ Richard 🍃

A powerful portrayal.
In truth, you are more a universe wrapped in skin.
Meaningful and eloquent poetry, Lia.

Indeed.. This body is just the tip of the iceberg. Thank you Jimmy
Excellent piece...it gains momentum as it goes.
I was particularly taken by the three "before" lines..
clever.
and being an "ocean wrapped in skin"
works so well in introducing the last line of the poem.
really good work.
