Torn From My ArmsA Poem by Li YanA poem about losing something really important to you as a result of someone taking it from you.Have you heard of that story That story which everyone knows Of a man that killed a child After stealing it from the mother's arms The mother begged and begged But the man disagreed For the man believed himself to be right And the man had set his mind The mother felt an icy glacier in her heart As her child was ripped from her arms But the man believed he was right And he wouldn't let the mother put up a fight The man told the mother she should have killed her child herself For the child was great evil that deserved death But how could the mother listen to this man This man who cared not of how much she loved her child Her child, her child Her baby, her child The one she raised Her child, her child Her poor child Where is her child? Her child is dead She could never forgive this man This man who killed her child But where is her child? Her child is dead But then the man returns He returns with an apology A goldfish in a jar Is his apology But he's not sorry for killing her child No not at all He's sorry for not letting her kill her own child But here's a goldfish, to ease her pain Here's a goldfish, to keep her sane But she does not want a goldfish She wants her child back But her child is gone Her child is dead She could never forgive this man This man who murdered her child The child she raised The child she loved The child which is gone She could never forgive this man Whom killed her child Her child is dead He killed her child © 2017 Li YanAuthor's Note
