I have this tiny little box
That holds my deepest thoughts.
It takes in everything I want to say
And keeps it locked away.
This box holds my secrets
And every feeling that I ever get.
I feel safe when I know it’s there
Just in case everyone forgets to care.
But this box has been waiting someone
For when its mission of security is done.
It knows I will soon find something else
To fill my empty shelves.
The box wants to give itself to someone new
And show everything I have gone through.
It wants me to open up to him;
To reveal my feelings and why I felt them.
But I will have to wait for that one to come.
I will hide the places where I have come from.
Only I will know these feelings in the box beneath my skin
And one day my box will let that special person in.
