Open Hearts

"if one’s heart is open, it will never stay broken"

Imagine having to smile when you're sad

or to laugh when you want to cry.

always pretending not to be mad

so that the days will just fly by

when falling asleep is a constant struggle

because your mind is filled with pain.

you think about all those moments 

but your mind just tells you it was a game

i know the things that happened,

i know what you did wrong.

you took my heart and cracked it

and those pieces will forever be gone

i gave myself away too quick 

for my walls did not stay up

cause it seemed so safe and trustful 

but turns out it just wasn't enough 

i wonder what you think of

when you remember all these things.

do you understand that it was love

and that it wasn't just a phase? 

my heart was completely set on you

from the second our eyes met

what i felt was strong and true 

and in the end i'll never forget

we may have been through a lot

and at the time it seemed like the end

but those things have made us stronger.

and no matter what i'll always be your friend

my heart will never stop caring 

and i would die if i had to lose you  

for you mean way too much

and i promise that this is true

because when all else fails, 

i will always love you.
