Spontaneous Gloom

Spontaneous Gloom

A Poem by Shiika
"

Poem I wrote the other night. Been in a mood to write dark poems lately, not entirely sure why. Also had another random depressed moment, which is where this poem came from.

"

Spontaneous gloom has seized me;

I am its willing prisoner.

The dark, the depressing, the eerie,

They call to me like black-haired sirens

On jagged rocks in a moonlit ocean.

But it doesn’t scare me that

The darkness has found me yet again.

It doesn’t scare me that it lingers

And refuses to leave.

What scares me,

Is that I want to stay.

I am its willing prisoner.

I like the imagery of the sirens. It's a good representation of a depressive mood and wanting to wallow in it. Take care though, those moments do pass eventually.
