Another Left

Another Left

A Poem by Alexa Tarvid

Step.
Back.

Where did I go?
Someone cut my rope
And ate all my crumbs,

Is it just me?
Or are these walls growing,
The leaves are getting thicker,
And these thorns are getting sharper,

I must have taken a wrong turn,
This doesn't look anything
Like my home,

When did I fall down the rabbit hole?
Who is pulling the strings in this world?

Another right
Another dead end,
And all of its changing again,

These paths have become so narrow,
Suck it in
squeeze the shoulders,
This isn't funny,
I'm not having fun anymore...

Someone cut my rope
And ate all my crumbs,
I was led down a rabbit hole
With no rabbit to follow,

The light is retreating
And my energy fleeting,
So weak this maze has made me...
So much power
It has stolen,

Another left,
Another dead end.

Step.
Back.

And tell me if you
Can see the end.
