They Won't

They Won't

A Poem by Alexa Tarvid
"

Cursed by Apollo to see the future but never be heard, Cassandra battles with the knowledge she must bear alone.

"
Get them out
Get them out!
They scratch and itch
Pry and twitch,
They don't go away
They won't,
They won't...

They tell me what is to come,
Foreshadow the agony of death and love,
My death,
My love,
Your death
Yes! You will die!
You all will fall from the heart of a prince
But you do not listen,
No
You never listen.

Not once do they turn an ear
To the sound of my haunting dreams,
Not once...
Not once,
Has a soul reached out to my cry,
So these screams
All these screams!
Ring in my ears
My ears alone,

For that is my curse,
To have my mind devoured by creatures of the future
These visions
These visions,
They scratch and claw,
Showing me my love...
My death.

Get them out
Get them out!
Before in these beasts
I lose myself
Myself,
Myself,

I am Cassandra,
I am Cassandra,
Cassandra.
