Wrapped

Wrapped

A Poem by Alexa Tarvid

A ribbon
For a soul,
Wrapped around my finger,
I was wrapped around your heart,

A ribbon
For a soul,
I must of pulled too hard,
Or let it loose for too long,
Because it slipped from my finger
And lays at the neck,

I am sufficating
As the ribbon you walk away with
closes in on my throat,

I must have pulled too hard,
Or let it loose for too long
Because you are gone,
And this ribbon
Is only a glimmer of what I dream of,

You took my ribbon with you,
And whether you know it or not,
It's still wrapped around your heart,

A ribbon for a soul,
For you a ghost,
For me?
A rough cutting rope
That never lets go.
