Flame

Flame

A Poem by Alexa Tarvid

Dear flame
Do not go out,
Please flame,
You have brought me warmth,
You have brought me protection,

Poor flame,
You struggle against the wind,
It's strength threatening extinction,
No flame!
You cannot go out
You cannot leave me,

Leave me cold and alone,
Here!
I will protect you,
My hands will act as a shield,
My voice a constant precense,

Oh flame!
Why do you flicker so?
You are scaring me,
I can't be all alone,
Not now!
When the wind is so strong,
And my heart so cold,

I am sorry,
My tears aren't helping,
But flame,
Flame do not go out,
Flame please...
Please stay here with me,
Here where you are needed most,

I will protect you,
I will protect you.
