My Mouse

My Mouse

A Poem by Alexa Tarvid

Lets play a game,
I wish to play a game with you,
A cat and mouse so to speak,
A hunter and the hunted,

We shall play this game,
You can use your legs
And I my claws,
You have to run for this game,

Oh no,
You broke a rule,
Woods are off limits my friend,
That's for your sake,

Because no matter what
I'll find you,
I like this game,
Oh how you are such a tease,

Why aren't you running as fast?
Are you growing weary?
I can taste your fatigue,
It's making my claws tingle,

But why did you stop?
I am not finished playing,
Get to your feet my mouse,
Run just a little farther,

Alright,
Lets play a different game,
I wish to play this game with you as well,
You do not need to run,
Let your heart rest my friend,

For in this game...
You must play dead.
