A Note in a BottleA Poem by Alexa TarvidIf there was a chance you'd read this I wouldn't write it,
So many hands wishing to be held, And so many hearts willing to give, And yet I find myself chasing a ghost, Two steps always ahead And me falling short along your path,
We have never touched, Not once, But your voice wipes the tears from my eyes, And your laughter folds my lips into a grin,
If you were to read this I would blush, My cheeks would turn a rosy red And my eyes would find the pavement, How embarrassing this all is, That my words would form such phrases For someone I could never talk to again,
Because I am the forgettable one, Not that I forget, But I am easy to be forgotten, A fumble of words, A fidget of fingers and ordinary curves And a head full of the wrong things to say,
If there was a chance you would read this I wouldn't write it, Even if there is a chance you feel the same, I will hide this,
A note in a bottle meant only to kiss the thrashing waves, Never meant to truly meet its destination, So these words will die here, Meant to forever wander, To never find its home, I stuff these feelings into that bottle, Kiss it ever so gently And send it into the ocean mist, Its eternal prison, Rest in peace... My words, Rest in peace... My Love. © 2010 Alexa TarvidReviews
