Song of a SparrowA Poem by Alexa TarvidI wish to live in a world not my own, One of round tables and brave knights, One of great battles and victories, Where the evil fall, And the good continue to live,
I wish to live in the song of a sparrow, To take up the reigns of Elaine, To call her wild soul and brave actions My own,
I wish to live in a world where, Though tragedy is great, The love of a people conquer all, Where a love so great Could live in my own heart, As lips as gentle as Tristan's Brush against a hand as rough and as beautiful as Elaine's, How I long for such a love, A love so pure, That even the let down of Lancelot, Was worth the way he gazes at me,
But this world is gone, No more knights, No more round tables, And great battles With brave victorious men, King Arthur stays alive only in the words of the world, And Elaine and Tristan have left on the wings of a sparrow, Such a beautiful song this world once sang,
I hear it, It is a sweet lulliby Made sorrowful by the whisper it is only given, But as my mind drifts and my heart soars, I find that song, It's notes and melody take flight in my soul, Fluttering like the wings of a sparrow,
And for a few brief moments, I find myself in a world not my own, Where the trees breathe the outcomes of distant battles, And a love is found through a friendship as strong as a knight's armor,
The sparrow sits on a thick branch, It's eyes focused on me, And as my spirit takes flight in such a world, The mysterious bird does as well, Singing a song that is only meant for a soul like mine, A soul meant for this world, The song of a sparrow.
