A Sad Song

Am I falling

In love with you?

I cannot tell,

I have never been in love,

And if I am,

If I am falling for you,

Does it always carry such sadness?

A sadness I know

I feel for you?

 

It's lingering,

Stealing the vivid smells and colors

From optimistic thoughts and daydreams,

Why should an idea such as love

Carry such a melancholy song?

I hear it,

It echos through my bones,

Such a sad sad song,

Even your warmth

Cannot shake the chill of it,

The chill of the song

That sings even louder when you are gone,

 

I should be joyous,

Shouldn't I?

If the thought of love is in the air!

How can such a heart be in despair?

The answer is

A heavy heart,

A heart weighed down by the words never spoken

And the tears never wept,

 

Such burdens slow it down,

The process of falling,

Falling in love is more like falling up,

Has gravity finally let me go?

Am I free to love with all of me?

I can not tell,

Right now

I can only hear that song,

 

Such a sad sad song

For thoughts of love.
