Hold on,
Look,
What do you see?
I see conformity,
Everyone trying to be different
Making different a normal thing.
What do you see?
I see grey,
Black and white has escaped me,
No fine lines,
Just blur
Just a plain landscape.
Look,
Do you see it?
The unlit candles,
The glimmer missing from her eyes,
Pay attention,
The way her hands stop on the door
Wondering if it's worth it to go inside
To go back to what she has become so used to.
Hold on,
Look,
She paused
Only to turn her head to the skies,
The question clear in her eyes,
Why?
Wait,
Do you see her?
She's hard to miss,
The only one wearing blue
In a grey world,
There she is
Looking up at the stars.
Look,
Every face looks the same,
Every eye on the prize that will only disappear,
A lost hope,
Misplaced determination,
And while they race eachother
There she stands
A tear rolling down her cheek.
Why?
Why does she cry?
Why is she different from everyone else?
Yet so much the same,
I don't get it,
The world is plagued with lies
But the truth takes refuge in that girl's eyes.
There's no pedestal,
No trophy,
No prize,
And yet
She stands there
Her eyes to the sky,
a blue girl in a grey world.
Hold on,
Look,
Can you see her?
